 Welcome to IROCIN.com

When GM redesigned the Camaro for the third generation I knew I had to have one. Ever since I was young I always wanted a Camaro. My Aunt and Uncle had a ‘69 and a Camaro is what I wanted when I got older. I started working at GM in September 1984 and the opportunity to own one was close at hand.  In October 1985 I went to my local Chevrolet dealer and ordered my first brand new car, it was a 1986 Camaro Z28 IROC-Z. I owned the car for 20 months, I put 21865 kilometers on the odometer and sold it in September 1987 to pursue a family. In July 2011 after 24 years I bought my second IROC-Z and this website is dedicated to it, and other Camaro related info.

This flame red metallic 1989 Camaro IROC-Z was born at the General Motors Van Nuys California Assembly Plant in September 1988. This car is very well optioned. Most notably is the 5.7 tuned port injection engine and t-tops, a list of the options can be found in the specification section.

I am the third owner of this car. I purchased this car July 27th 2011 and took possession on August 1st.

This car currently has only 49390 miles on the odometer. Besides regular maintenance the following have been replaced or repaired. The battery, fuel injectors, alternator, muffler, rear sway bar end links, front air dam deflector, and one low beam headlight, K&N air filters, Bosch Platinum plugs, Accel Supercoil and Accel 8.8 spark plug wires. The rear end gear ratio was changed by the first owner from the 2.77 to a 3.27. A new intake gasket set was installed in 2016. A new fuel pump, and rear shocks were installed in 2017.  For cosmetic purposes I replaced the front grill, parking and fog lights. On the interior I replaced the stereo, headliner, sail panels and sun visors. . The reason for the stereo upgrade is the fact that Bose amplifiers didn't last over time and having a dvd gps unit is a nice modern comfort.

If you know your IROC-Z’s than you can tell by the image above my car is sporting the 1987 16in. wheels. I have the original wheels with the Goodyear Gatorbacks P245/50ZR16 I plan to put on for car shows , the 87 wheels have Goodyear Eagle F1’s for cruising around and of course, traction. This car was built decal delete (DX3) I assume the original owner had a stripe kit put on at some point.
